Treasure Hunt: Wild Rumpus.

Now, my husband, our friend Sasha, and I might be the only ones in the whole world who loved this movie, but we love everything about it, everything, simply everything.  It’s pretty much because it’s one of our favorite movies of all time… and it’s coming to DVD on Tuesday.  We’ve been counting down the days and Tuesday, my friends, is not so far away!!  Hooray.

I’m talking about… Where the Wild Things Are.

(And half of the people collectively sigh, and say, “really, I didn’t get it.”)

So,  for today’s Treasure Hunt post, we’re hunting for all things related to this gem of a film.  Let the treasure hunt begin, or shall I say, wild rumpus?

{incredible, delightful movie soundtrack}

{cute pajamas for the baby boy}

I pretty much want all of that…  as in I certainly do.

Is it Tuesday yet?

*Have an idea for Treasure Hunt posts, I’d love to hear it.  Send me a message!!

Adoring the art of: Subway Inspired

Notice:  This post is part “adoring the art of” and part “treasure hunt.”  I missed last Friday’s Treasure Hunt.  I apologize.  I was too busy being creative.
Do not be confused.  Let there be no confusion.  Only delight and admiration for the pretty pictures.
I love the simple brilliance of these subway style pieces that I’ve recently discovered.

A new etsy shop, Signs of Vintage creates these subway inspired signs, with whatever names you want on there.  How cool would it be to have a piece with all your favorite places?  I love this.

business matters- prints, cards, and more…

Happy Friday!
The sun is shining so brightly and the above freezing temperatures are beckoning us out of these four walls.
But first… some rather exciting matters of business, more exciting for me than you, maybe, we’ll see.
Paper Vase copy
Paper Bird
I’m delighted to announce that prints are now available in my Etsy shop.  I’ve started with these two pretties, but if there is a piece of mine that you’ve wanted to own, please message me and I can talk details with you… palettetheory(at)gmail(dot)com.

You can see the collection of  scarves here.
Hmm, that was a lot of business.
Now to wrap it up…

I’m just starting to take all the questions and feelings of this season of our lives and express them the best way I know how.  Some people eat their feelings.  Some people vigorously work-out their feelings.  I paint them.
I’m finding purpose in this season, in this journey of what is coming next.. one brushstroke at a time.
I don’t have new answers, but I have another picture to share.
What do you have to share, even if you feel you have nothing?

5 bits of blog goodness

I read a lot of blogs filled with great ideas, DIY’s, lovely pictures, and inspiration.  I want to share some of them with you, because I’m certain you’ll find something to spark your creativity… and you know me, I think everyone could use a bit more creativity.
Here are 5 little bits of blog goodness.
-I love this post on A Merry Mishap, featuring one incredible playroom for children.  I mean, if I had a room like this, I’d never ever want to leave it.  The original article is found here.
- My friend Jessica from A Little Gray inspires me everyday to figure out what in the world is wrong with my sewing machine.  She is always sewing incredible things for her little boy and pretty much everyone she knows, like these cute bags and this super fun play mat.
- I always enjoy seeing the cute projects and inspirations on One Pearl Button, like this little  cosmetic case.
-Reading this blog, Freshly Picked, makes me want to have a working sewing machine all over again, with all the fantastic tutorials like this.
-I enjoy the incredibly, inspiring photos that Lexi shares on Love. Obsess. Inspire.  So many great images like these really make me want to draw more.
I hope you enjoy these blogs.  What are some of your favorites?

Misery

I wanted to share this with you because I love this blog.  I’ve seen her books in the store and then I found her blog.  I love it all.

If you are an artist, or know an artist, or ever thought that artists are weird, you really must read this post, called:  How to be Miserable as an Artist.

Read it here.

PS.  It’s the weekend… I have a new set of canvases waiting for me.

Tonight, I had a date with colored pencils and my sketchbook.

I’m working on something new and I can’t stop laughing.

I can’t wait for you to meet some new little friends…

Treasure Hunt: Teapots

I had so much fun with my first Treasure Hunt post, it’s going to become a regular thing around here.  If there is something you’d like to see featured, please let me know, I love a good treasure hunt.  Today I’m looking for teapots.
Vintage PUMPKIN enamel teapot and kettle
I love this vintage pumpkin colored tea pot from Room for Cake.
Jardine Collection Tea Kettle
This little kettle from OkaySK would definitely brighten up my boring white stove.
Love this Sugar & Creamer set from Anthropologie.
And this Fleur de Lys teapot from Anthropologie, too.
mark twain quote teapot
I like this teapot with quotes from Mark Twain.  It’s simple but fun, find it at 22pages.
Tea Kettle notecard set (4 cards)
An invitation to afternoon tea would be perfect on this little card from RueRenee.

And now, I think it’s time for tea.
